Indian nationals are now eligible for long-term multi-entry Schengen visas lasting up to two years, subject to meeting certain criteria. This decision, made by the European Union, allows for easier access to multi-year visas for Indian travelers who have a proven travel history and valid passport duration.

The European Commission’s adoption of specific regulations on issuing multiple entry visas to Indian nationals on April 18 marks a significant step in strengthening relations between the EU and India. This decision aligns with the goals of the EU-India Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility, emphasizing cooperation on migration policy and facilitating people-to-people interactions.

Schengen visas enable visitors to freely travel within the Schengen area for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. However, these visas do not grant the right to work. The Schengen area encompasses 29 European countries, including 25 EU member states, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
